A native of North Plainfield, New Jersey, he is known primarily for playing the robot Bender in the 20th Century Fox animated series Futurama, and for the voice of Marcus Fenix in the 2006 hit videogame Gears of War. DiMaggio is confirmed to reprise his role of Bender for the new 2008 season of Futurama.WorkJohn DiMaggio is a former stand-up comedian and has several on-screen credits, such as Steve Ballmer in Pirates of Silicon Valley (the docudrama about the history of Apple Computer and Microsoft) and as the recurring character Dr. Sean Underhill on Chicago Hope.
DiMaggio is one of two actors that have played the same character in both Futurama and The Simpsons, the other being Nancy Cartwright (as Bart Simpson).
