A case of mistaken identity lands Slevin into the middle of a war being plotted by two of the city's most rival crime bosses: The Rabbi and The Boss . Slevin is under constant surveillance by relentless Detective Brikowski as well as the infamous assassin Goodkat and finds himself having to hatch his own ingenious plot to get them before they get him.

Lucky Number Slevin (also known as Lucky # Slevin or The Wrong Man) is a 2006 crime thriller film written by Jason Smilovic, directed by Paul McGuigan and starring Josh Hartnett, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley, Lucy Liu, Stanley Tucci and Bruce Willis. Set in New York City, the plot focuses on the paths of Slevin Kelevra (Hartnett), Lindsey (Liu), two feuding crime bosses known as The Boss (Freeman) and The Rabbi (Kingsley), and a mysterious assassin known as Mr. Goodkat (Willis).The film is a contemporary retelling of the main plot of Akira Kurosawas 1961 film Yojimbo (and thus of Sergio Leones 1964 film, A Fistful of Dollars).PlotThe film opens in the waiting area of an airport where a young, bearded man (who later becomes known as Nick Fisher) walks to an empty seat. In the background an old lady can be seen sleeping on a chair.

The man sits down, closes his eyes and waits. After a few seconds Bruce Willis appears alongside him in a wheelchair and starts retelling the story of a family man with a low income who heard a tip on a fixed horse race and made a large bet with an off track bookie. The gangsters financing the bookie were new in town, and when they found out about the "fixed race", they decided to eliminate everyone connected with it, including the horse and all of the betters, as an object lesson. They killed the bookie, the man, and his whole family. After telling the story, Williss character suddenly gets out of his wheelchair and appears behind the man, killing him by breaking his neck.The film flashes back to the present day, where a young man named Slevin Kelevra, brought to town by care of his friend Nick Fisher, is mugged while walking to Fishers apartment. When he arrives he finds the door open and his friend missing.
